If you are looking for a purebred puppy, you can Google your breed online. The American Kennel Club provides an excellent breeder’s directory on its web site.
Though it’s true that some shelter or rescue dogs may have behavioral issues that their foster providers are working to help them overcome, some wonderful young dogs in breed rescue groups are there for benign reasons, such as lack of time for potty-training or the illness or disability of the care provider. A few rescue dogs had to be surrendered due to the care needs of the dog. Bless all of those special people who have given a senior or disabled dog a home!!!
